4Pretty good but weird texture -- the Raspberry is better  May 26, 2010
By MK
Fairly tasty -- sweet, lemony, but with a bit of a lemon bitter-y taste (e.g., zest). My biggest issue with this is that when you first pop it into your mouth, it has this weird thick gelatin-y texture to it that I do not like. That dissolves away, but it's unsettling. I love lemon, but I'm not quite as much a fan of the lemon zest flavor -- I prefer straight lemon. So, 4/5 stars.

I highly recommend the Raspberry ones: they don't have that weird texture, and just taste like candy.

These candies were recommended to me by my dental hygenist (the best one I've ever met!). Xylitol and xylitol-based products like those made by Spry are difficult to find locally (most popular-brand "xylitol" gum actually has very little xylitol in it), so I was quite happy to see these here. From what I've seen online, the only known side-effect to xylitol is a laxative effect (as compared to artificial sweeteners, which can be carcinogenic in large regular doses). I've eaten a ton of these and haven't had any problems, though, so the dosage at which the laxative effect occurs must be quite high.

5Addictive  Apr 21, 2009

These lemon mints are delicious and made with healthy xylitol. My sister says they taste like Spree. I don't know what Spree is, but ever since I started chewing a few of these every day I have been able to stop using my tooth whitener. I've tried the other flavors, but the lemon is my favorite.

5Pleasant Lemon Taste - Not too tart or sour  Jul 24, 2010
By M. Hill
After reading a book written by a dentist about caring for your teeth I sought these mints out. She touted xylitol as an artificial sweetener that is actually good for the teeth. My purchase was based on that recommendation because obviously most candy/mints are, if not actually harmful to teeth, certainly don't help strengthen them. The idea of reaching for a sweet that wasn't all bad lured me in.

To my taste, the lemon flavor is perfect -- not too sour and not too tart. They are flavored with natural lemon oil and no mouth puckering is involved in the consumption. That said, what appeals to one person may not appeal to another, but obviously liking lemon is a prerequiste to enjoying them. The coating is polished so it feels quite smooth in the mouth but once dissolved, the remaining portion has a rougher texture. I did not find this at all unusual.

I like the lemonburst flavor and will continue to purchase them. Also, it is convenient to find them on Amazon where the price is actually a bit less than in the health food store where I made my initial purchase. Additionally, my health food store is frequently out of them while Amazon seems to usually have them in stock.

3lemony!  Jun 04, 2009
By E. Peterson
I bought these lemon mints and also the peppermint ones as well. The lemon mints have a nice, smooth texture and initially have a pleasant lemon flavor. However, once the waxy outer coating dissolves in your mouth you're left with an odd organic taste (kind of like the taste of lemon grass, sort of a lemony, grassy taste)-- I suppose it's the taste of the lemon oil used to flavor these mints. I'm not crazy about it, and will probably stick with the peppermint flavor in the future.

3wishful thinking  Oct 09, 2011
By LCSW
I wish I would have known how few of the mints it takes to work as a laxative...They work better for that purpose than to keep your teeth safe from cavities. When I bought them, I assumed that in moderation, they would be a part of my daily routine. instead I found I was unable to use more than 2-3 a day... The seller did a good job of packing and shipping.
