Too Many Shortcomings For the Price Nov 10, 2009
By Boilermate This exerciser is extremely well made. The main part is a solid casting and the cylinders appear to be equally heavy duty. Good up to 400 lbs. Made in USA is a plus. However...
First of all it has no rubber feet, kind of a cheap omission for a $400+ device (the price as of this writing). Because of this, it slides all over the (vinyl) floor and I fear it would scratch a hardwood floor. Xiser's answer? Send us $49 and we'll send you a non-slip mat and a carrying bag.
Next, the cylinders are not screwed down and only sit on little nubs on the frame. Each time you pick it up (by its handle) to move it the cylinders fall off the frame. Not impressive for a $400 machine. Some kind of thumb screws would have been more useful.
I could live with those short comings, but...the biggest drawback is the size. The width of the machine at the pedals is only 6 inches center-to-center, and only 10 inches total (from the outside edge of the left to the outside edge of the right). If you are a bit full-figured you will find it difficult to fit onto the pedals as you go up and down.
If the people who designed this actually used it (or tested it using real people) this could have been a killer machine. All they needed to do was add about 2 - 3 inches of extra width to it. As it is, I find it unusable and it going back.

High Intensity Training Aug 30, 2009
By Glenn The Xiser is great for strengthening legs. But more importantly, with hand weights it strengthens the arms as well. But the best reason to use the Xiser is that in one minute you can really boost your heart rate. So two minutes a day is all you need to really get your heart in great shape. After one minute on the Xiser you are breathing heavy, your leg muscles are pumped, and your arms are getting toned, too. Two minutes on the Xiser per day is great way to get fit. The Xiser is built to put your body in an anatomically correct position for leg stepping. It's a great product and will last a lifetime! It's built very well, all steel construction.

Won't last if you use it everyday... Feb 27, 2010
By NjFreqTraveler The company that supports this product and its warranty is excellent; unfortunately, if you use this stepper often (almost everyday for 45 minutes to an hour), it will continue to break every 4 or 5 months. I have had a metal joint split, hydraulic piston leak, loss of resistance, etc. 175lbs and 5'9", so not too much weight either.
Each time, the company repaired the stepper. But now, out of warranty, its my/your call whether to pay for a repair again. My view is a stepper at the 400 dollar price range should perform better...

Think Twice Oct 08, 2010
By Mark Bettner I use my unit about one hour each day. At four months the frame cracked. At six months a piston sprung a leak. In both instances, the company replaced the broken part for a $20 fee. If I continue to average $40 in replacement fees every six months over the five-year warranty, I'll end-up paying an additional $400 over-and-above the $400 purchase price of the unit. As much as I love the x-Iser when it's functioning, I must steer others away from this product. Sorry.

The Real Deal Aug 12, 2008
By Wonder Warthog The X-iser is "the real deal". Far more robust than other "low-profile" step machines. I've owned one for about ten years, and it is still standing up to almost daily use.
