Great dumbell bars May 09, 2011
By Z. Hyde These are just great. You get two (I'm not sure the ad makes that clear). They hold weights (which you have to supply separately).
As some people complain about, the knobs loosen on their own, so the weight plates wobble. But who cares? The knobs come nowhere near to spinning off or falling off.
It's a small price to pay, for which you get dumbbell bars on which it is very easy to change the weights.
Besides, if you want something much fancier, you wouldn't be spending 20 bucks on the internet. You'd be going to a sports store, and spending more than 100 bucks after carefully choosing something.

overall a good product Nov 09, 2009
By Conblue I bought these dumbbell bars about a year ago. They work just fine for my purposes - I have a simple "home gym" with these dumbbells, an exercise mat, and a chin-up bar. The screws that hold the weights on the end do come loose a bit because it's metal-on-metal with no rubber, so the weights rattle and spin a little, but the threaded ends of the bar are long enough that the screw won't fall off unless you are stacking more than 3 plates on each side (if you use 10-lb plates, that's like 60 lbs per dumbbell. If you're lifting that much, you should probably invest in nicer equipment anyway).

Well made and easy to lock Dec 05, 2011
By S. Ketchman I've had these for a few months now and I'm really happy with my purchase. They are solid metal and aren't just coated chrome, so you don't have to worry about them peeling or anything like that. The grips on them are textured, so if your hands are sensitive you might want some gloves, but it helps in keeping a firm grip on the bars.
As for what people have been saying about the spin locks getting loose, they only get loose if you aren't tightening them properly. It is really very simple, and I've never had them come loose when I do this. First you tighten like normal and then grab the two sides of weight plates and do a twist to tighten a little bit more. What this does, is it lodges the plates and the spindle so that there is no more room to loosen, which you can't do by just turning the spindles themselves. To untighten, you'll need to do the "twist" again but in the opposite direction. Again, you spin the spinlocks in place, then grab the weight plates and twist them for a final tighten.
These are really great and so far have not flexed even when putting 40 pounds on each of them. These replaced my old bars that didn't have the easy spin locks and I'm happy I made the change. If you want a quality spin lock bar, I can't see why you wouldn't want to order these.

Basic inexpensive bar.... Feb 06, 2009
By Mark
"frustrated bookkeeper"
The price was right, but sharp edges on the lock nuts, no rubber lock washer to hold weights tight, and a sharp knurling on the bar itself make them less than ideal, particularly if you use them with a lot of weight.

By jim Minor chrome flaking off thread area with initial weight plate changes, but this ceased after first workout. Solid equipment for a good price.
