Good value for a great barbell set Jan 16, 2007

The bar is lightweight and the set has a nice feel to it when loaded. It is perfect for home use with video workouts such as Jari Love or Cathe Friedrich. I would supplement this set with some 2.5 lb weights. The 10 lbs plates are a tad bulky, but at this price - who cares?

Good deal for a barbell, low shipping! May 13, 2009
By Nancy Olson I have been using this barbell for some time and like it a lot. The weights are plastic and so are much thicker than metal ones but I don't find this to be a problem. Any other barbells I looked at on the internet the shipping was twice the cost of the barbell and with this one the total cost was about $50 so I consider this a great deal!

Excellent Starter Set Sep 12, 2009
By Antonin Benak
"ROCK ON!"
I bought this set of free weights as part of a regiment to get back into shape. In short, this is a great starter set, especially for those who have either never worked out or never owned a set before.
PROS- Easy to put together (yes it comes in pieces) Once the bar is put together it will NEVER come apart The plates are rust proof in case you have to leave your set outside (like me, just covere them up with a tarp when you're done) There is room for additional plates on the bar
CONS- Plates made of think vinyl/plastic material filled with sand (be careful not to crack them open) Does NOT come with a bench (luckily I had my own) The bar is only about 4 feet in length, which may not fit every style bench The bar CAN rust if left in the elements (but this can be minimized with a tarp)

Awesome!!! Oct 11, 2010
By anonymous When I first bought this, I thought it would be for my husband only (55 lbs is a lot!), but I didn't realize it would be possible to very quickly and easily remove the discs to get various weights. It can range from 5 pounds UP to 55. I like using 10 pounds on each side for bench presses (yes, I'm a weakling). And, even though the discs come off very easily for changing the weight, it is very safe (you definitely don't need to worry about the weights coming off while you're using them). Great for workouts, and a great price!

Good value Apr 03, 2009

I purchased these for my wife to use with her Cathe Friedrich workouts. It appears identical to what is used in her videos. The bar was easily assembled and does exactly what you would expect with a couple of minor annoyances. First, the spring collars to hold the weights in place can be difficult to get on and off of the bar, especially if you're hurrying to keep up with Cathe. Second, when pulling the spring off of the bar it get's hung on the plastic bar end caps. She ends up pulling the end cap out with the clamp half of the time. We ended up just chucking the plastic end caps and life became just a little less irritating. On the positive side, the weights are easy to handle and the bar is a good length. Overall it's a good value for light weight training.
