My wife had previously fallen out of bed twice and the 30" Standers Safety Bed Rail proved to be just what we needed to prevent a dangerous repetition. If the top of your bed spring is at least 14" above the floor, the pivoting rail is capable of being easily and safely folded down flat against the side. This makes it easier to make the bed and improves overall appearance during the daytime. The product had a damaged tension spring (roll pin) as received. I called Standers, Inc. and was astounded at how graciously and completely they resolved the problem at their own initiative, at no added cost to us. In my book, they earned a five-star rating.

My son has just conpleted installation of this bedrail for me...the second one. It took two and a half hours which is hardly the "easy to install" logo on the container box. (the second installation took less than the first because of the "experience" of the first) Reason? Well the installation instructions failed to mention the facts that the mattress had to be removed in order to stretch the safety strap across the bed and the box spring needed to be lifted in order to attach the strap to the bed frame. In fact no instruction whatever on the installation of this safety feature...the instructions merely say "attach the safety strap to the bed frame" These actions are EXTREMELY difficult for one person to do (and I won't go into the contortions it took for one person). Additionally, as another reviewer observed, there is no mention that a clearance (in my case) of more than 15 inches between top of box spring and floor is needed if the rail is to completely fold down the side of the bed. Otherwise, I am pleased with this product itself, but in th e absence of complete instructions, there should be added the caveat "buyer be ware"

I have fallen out of bed a couple of times, after I started a new medication. I hit my head and hip on a night chest. I had bumbs and bruises. My husband suggested I buy a bed rail. I checked around online. I decided on Amazon because I haven't had any problems with the products, that I purchased in the past. I purchased the Standers brand. It was easy to install on my bed and it can be lowered to the floor when not in use. I can also lock the bed rail in place after I get in the bed. I also like the way the safty bed rail helps me get out of bed, since I have arthritis and fibromyalgia. I would recommend this safty bed rail to anyone, that has a problem.

Sturdy and Easy to Assemble Dec 07, 2010

This is the second one I ordered. It is very sturdy and was easy to assemble. The first one had to be returned to Amazon because the strap and nuts/bolts were missing from the box. Amazon paid for the return through UPS. Only inconvenience was having to go to the UPS store located in another town.

Bought this for my 80 year old Mom, who was just leaving a nursing home and returning to her home after rehabbing for a broken leg. I was looking for a rail that would help her get in and out of bed. This is definitely well-made and easy to assemble....I am a chick and I put it together and got it on the bed all by my little ole self. It was a bit bigger than expected, so I had to place it towards the bottom of bed so she could swing her legs past it to get in. The padded pouch is nice....she keeps her remote and eyeglasses in it. FYI!!!! If you buy the pouch, they actually put the center bar IN there, so if you notice it's missing, look in the pouch!! The only negative....We never use the fold down option, and the way it works, it would not be easy for my Mom to manipulate.....only downside really.
