It makes me happy when skies are grey Aug 06, 2007
By Todd Boostrom With over a decade mated to multiple sclerosis, and the last four years a full-time wheelchair user, I can't overemphasize how important this little doodad is to my relative autonomy. With little sense of balance, but decent remaining upper body strength, this, my transfer board and a little prayer allows me to do an unassisted transfer. Even if your upper body strength is weakened, the BedCane will give you and your caregivers some needed help. I use it on a standard full-sized bed with a headboard... a squishy mattress and low half bedrail hospital bed hindered more than helped. Best of fortune to you and your loved ones.

Help at Last! Mar 20, 2007
By J. Phillips
"JaJaNos"
We ordered this adjustable rail just in time! My mother fell the next week and fractured her back. This rail is well made, sturdy--neat in appearance, fits well on a craftmatic-type adjustable bed, and can be dropped below the side for easy reach to the patient or loved one. Also, elderly people often have little strength in their hands and mother has no difficulty in pushing the buttons to extend the rail for added safety.

The greatest invention since the paper clip!!! Feb 29, 2008
By ROSE And just as easy of a concept!
I love this product for my mom, it's smaller and less confining than a bed rail,or other smaller stand assist products.
Does the job with assisting her up to sitting and standing.
Very sturdy material. The softness of the handle makes it warm to the touch and safe against bumping.
Easily visible against the neutral colors of her room.
Saves my back which is important for all 24/7 caregivers.
Easy to assemble and install.
THE best price through Amazon, (savings on shipping).
I just can't say enough good things!

Could have been built better Mar 11, 2009
By J. Li Its hard to see exactly what you are getting on the internet when it comes to objects not commonly used everyday. This is no exception. I thought this product was going to be sturdier. The thing that goes around the mattress is actually a cord (a giant rubber band). So the bar even when properly assembled can be wobbly if enough weight is applied to it. I pray that it can hold my father especially if he pulls on it for support. If this cord was a flat steel bar that reached across the mattress and bent down with a hook at the end to grip the bottom of the bed frame, just the sheer weight of the mattress and the grip on the bed frame as a counterbalance would have made this barrier 10X sturdier. I bought this product because I am not sure what else is out there. This certainly isn't the best thing in the world. Just a compromise.

Standers EZ Adjust Bed Rail Oct 04, 2008
By Marilyn Oborny This is a great rail for in-home elder care if you don't have or need a hospital bed. The product description does not indicate the minimum height of the box spring, in order for the rail to clear the floor when folded down. Our low-profile box spring is 13" off the floor, which is not high enough to be able to fold it down completely. Luckily, we were able to use it without that function, by moving the rail as close as possible to the head of the bed. You should have at least 14" to the top of the box spring to use that function. Other than that, the retractability of the rail is just what we needed, to allow our elder to get in and out of bed. I would rate this 5 stars if the rail had been a bit lower in height. Not everyone has super thick box springs and mattresses. Of course, bed risers would solve this if you didn't want the rollers on the bed frame to function. We just didn't want a higher bed, hence the lower box spring.
