Great for cooking & moisturizing! Feb 22, 2008

Although I like Jarrow's unrefined coconut oil best for eating by the spoonful (I take 2tbs/day), I find Spectrum's consistency better for cooking and using as a hair and body moisturizer. Also, it's great that it doesn't require refrigeration. Jarrow's does.
I've used coconut oil for about two months now and love the flavor (esp with chicken & vegetables). It's also AMAZING used topically. I use it after bathing and also as a facial moisturizer before bed. In the short time that I've used it, it's made such a huge difference as a moisturizer (much better than the various expensive store-bought products I've used for years). I haven't felt increased energy with it yet, but then again I juice daily so maybe the energizing benefits are disguised. =]

My first time trying coconut oil May 11, 2011
By Rosemarie I just tried this oil for the first time the other day. I was surprised how silky the texture was. I cannot understand why everyone is putting it on their hair and ignoring the healing properties of this magnificent oil. Sure it helps your hair and nails and skin but look what it can do for you by helping what it does on the inside:
*Promotes your heart health *Promotes weight loss, when needed *Supports your immune system health *Supports a healthy metabolism *Provides you with an immediate energy source *Keeps your skin healthy and youthful looking *It helps restore your thyroid to good working order and much much more
I used it on a cut on my lip that would not go away and in the morning there was much improvement. It is also excellent for your dog, my dog went crazy when I gave him a taste, but be careful give it to him very slowly over time to avoid die back. Only give your dog about 1/4 tsp for a few weeks until he is used to it then start to add a little more, big dogs 1 Tablespoon and little dogs 1 tsp. I kills fungus and is antibacterial. Use it for cooking but so not use on high heat or it will destroy the enzymes. I love this product it has a nice smooth texture and soft flavor and I lovely fragrance. I just ordered a different brand from Amazon to see if there is any that is better, but I don't think you can get much better than this one and the price is right, and no shipping cost what more could you want, I paid more for this and I had to travel to get it.

Love the flavor and glass jar Aug 09, 2010
By safffron This has to be one of the cleanest-tasting coconut oils. The fragrance is divine. One reason why I'm more likely to buy Spectrum is because the coconut oil is packaged in a glass jar. There's none of the potential nastiness leaching out of the plastic and into the oil. I'll spend a little more for that.

Excellent saturated fat Dec 14, 2009

As I have been practicing a very low-carb diet for a couple of years now and try to avoid polyunsaturates and even monosaturates, this oil seems like the perfect choice when I want a non-animal fat. I was surprised how the consistency varied as room temperature changed. The unrefined oil does have a sweet coconut flavor that has taken a little getting used to. I use it to coat pans when I am baking or broiling meats. I may as well confess, I usually clean off my fingers or the paper towel I was using by smearing the remains onto my hands and arms, it is a great body lotion as well.
Coconut oil is composed of 66% medium chain triglyceride. I have read that Oceanic peoples who live on a diet of fish and coconut are some of the healthiest in the world as long as they follow their traditional diets so I think it might have benefit for anyone's diet. Throughout the years, some studies have shown that MCTs can help in the process of excess calorie burning, weight loss. However, close to half of the calories in one's diet would have to be from the MCTs themselves. Therefore, consuming medium-chain triglycerides in a regular diet may or may not be beneficial to weight loss; studies are still being conducted

I'm amazed. Nov 30, 2011
By Minty.Green I've only been using this product as a moisturizer but I'm amazed at the results. Honestly, I have problem skin. I'm really sensitive to a LOT of facial products, most commonly they make me break out. I'm also allergic to parabens. So I basically just resigned myself to living with the break outs caused by normal facial moisturizers... until I started using this coconut oil.
Honestly I can't believe the results. I get really dry skin in the winter but since I started using the coconut oil my skin is rarely ever dried out. I haven't had 1 new zit since I started using it and the problems I had before are clearing up. My skin is sooo soft and much brighter than before. I'm a person who has tried countless expensive moisturizers and I have never seen such a change in my skin as with the coconut oil. Anyway that's my coconut oil success story, I don't think I will ever go back to the expensive face creams.
**Edit: Since I've been using this as a skincare item for a few months now I just wanted to update. I have gotten new zits once around that time of the month <3 and when I went on vacation and ate all kinds of greasy foods, lol. I find on really cold, dry days I have to use a thicker moisturizer in addition to a small amount of coconut oil. But I still definitely recommend it!
