Helped me when nothing else did Apr 27, 2010
By Laura I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, IBS, and Lupus of all things. I've suffered from fatigue, insomnia, muscle/joint pain, muscle cramps/twitches, migraines, and heart palpitations for the last 15 years. Recently, I was diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome. Doing research on my own, I plugged in my symptoms and came up with magnesium deficiency. I started taking Slo-Mag, and did see some improvement in my muscle twitches and heart palpitations. I could not take it for long because of intestinal upset. My doctor recommended magnesium malate, suggesting that it would not have the same side effects. I was hopeful, but had no idea what a difference it would make. I take just one pill a day. Within 3 days, my symptoms were 80% gone. I quit taking my pain pills, migraine pills and sleeping pills. I have no intestinal upset at all if I it take with food. I have been able to get back into vigorous exercise routines with no debilitating foot cramps or heart palpitations. I sleep at night and have not had a migraine in months now. I even carry back up supplies in my purse, one in my car and another in my desk at work so that if I forget to take it, I am not without it no matter where I am. It has been a solution for me when years of doctors and testing didn't help.

Helpful for Reynaud's syndrome Aug 06, 2008
By K. Ridgeway Using this Mag Malate product at the rate of 6 tabs a day (2 pills 3x/day, with meals = about 800 mg.) has made a dramatic improvement in my husband's primary long-standing Raynaud's disease. He normally has ice-cold fingers and toes -- to the point of complete discoloration -- even in hot weather, and even more so when stressed or fatigued. (See the Wiki article for description and photos.) He has been taught & used relaxation/breathing techniques and can warm up his fingers that way, but it takes time and is not always convenient.
He is NOT much of a pill taker at all, but in just these two weeks of use, he has become committed to this product. His fingers are warm and a normal red color now.
This product does not cause loose stools (diarrhea) like mag citrate could at this dosage. We have now put it on auto-ship, which makes it less expensive. For two people, one bottle lasts one month (6 pills/day x 30 days = 180 pills; x two people = 360 pills.)
We'll report further if it helps with other chronic health conditions we are trying it for.

Great product Jul 31, 2011
By Eric D Have been taking this product for a couple of years now for fatigue. The difference is clear and awesome. Somewhere below, somebody gave the advice to take 2 portions of calcium for each single portion of magnesium. That recommendation is actually INCORRECT. I have sold magnesium and calcium products for years and specialize in this area.
The 2:1 calcium/magnesium ratio works ONLY for people who have a fairly BALANCED body. People who have problems and symptoms, will require calcium in an amount that is either equal, none at all, or somewhere in between. It will be up to the user. The reason is simple: people with symptoms have magnesium imbalance tend to have a problem with calcium metabolism. They need high magnesium and low to no calcium. I have seen endless examples of this. Once a person gets better it may be ok to increase the calcium. But if you feel worse with the calcium, drop it again and stick for with the magnesium.
The standard 2:1 calcium/magnesium ratio is good for MAINTAINING the balance that you ALREADY have. But if you need to FIX (change) the balance, you follow the formula I mentioned above.

Reduced my pain and stiffness! Oct 05, 2011
By RG I have severe chronic fatigue and the constant pain that is associated with it. I tried magnesium malate because it was mentioned as possibly being helpful in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Treatment: A Treatment Guide (Quality Medical Home Health Library). I didn't think it would be too helpful, but decided to give it a chance. On the day I received it, I had my usual pain and stiffness that I've had now for the last 15-20 years, and have learned to live with the best I can. I mistakenly took a large dose (three pills), and went about my business. About 20 minutes later I was coming down the stairs and realized I was not limping and wasn't in pain!!! I had forgotten what lack of pain felt like, and the sensation of no pain was amazing. I'm currently taking a total of 6 pills a day (two pills, three times daily), and have much less pain than I used to. It has resolved my chronic constipation also. If you have chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia, this product might help you too. Good Luck.
Update: There seems to have been a significant reduction in my hair-fall since I started taking this supplement (about 3 weeks). Before, my hair would come off in bunches when I washed and combed it. Now, the hair-fall is about 1/3 of what it used to be. Also, I am able to do more work, like lifting heavy objects and moving furniture. When I get tired and my muscles begin to stiffen up and cramp from the exertion, the pain is significantly diminished if I take a couple of MgMalate pills (instead of Advil).
