Needs Improvement Sep 13, 2003

My daughter definitely prefers warm wipes and in that respect we love this warmer. No more "startled baby" from using cold wipes. And it's true, we haven't had a brown wipe yet. However I have one complaint. We've found the only wipes that work with the "pop up" feature are the pampers wipes. We got lots of huggies wipes refills for our shower and they wont "pop up". So be aware of that. We have to open the lid every time. And when you open the lid water WILL spill out.

First thing my husband went out for after my baby was born! Mar 07, 2004
By c2 Okay, honestly, with all those baby items out there I thought that this one was really "over the top" and didn't think to put it on my registry. Well, my little guy had a hard time keeping warm when he was born and definitely hated cold wipes so off to Babies r us went my husband the first day we were home. Oh, what a Godsend this thing is! Now, regarding the browning of the wipes, DON'T put an entire pack of wipes in the unit. Just put about 1/3 of the package in and seal up the remaining wipes in the bag (if using pampers, buy huggies first and reuse their resealable bag), or just use a ziploc. That way, they don't brown, they get warmer TONS faster, they don't dry out, and everyone is happier. I have found that Pampers have a tendency to dry out faster than huggies if you put in a bunch at a time, but other than that, I love this thing! Mine has been operational for almost 3 years now, nonstop and still going. I think this thing is a definite must for every little baby.

Love it, only one negative for me Mar 22, 2004
By The Pab 4 I have two of these in my house (one for each floor), and I couldn't live w/o them. They keep the wipes a nice temperature--I took the advice of other users and placed this on a coated wire rack (almost like a small, white-coated cookie cooling rack--you typically put these in a cupboard to create shelves to put cans on, etc). I found a tall but tiny latex-coated rack at Target for less than $5 and the warmer fits PERFECTLY on top. I keep them on the changing table (painted wood) and have had no problems w/ heat or water "ruining" my table. And the little shelf looks great (doesn't muck up image of the room if you get the right size) under it. And you don't have to have the pop=up wipes, since you can just as easily open the large lid as you can open the pop-up lid. Great all around. Only negative for me is that the bottom few wipes tend to smell stagnant when you get down to the bottom, no matter how fast you go thru a box of wipes and regardless of how well you wash that little moisture pad at the bottom. I've even tried scented wipes, but those last 10 or so just smell less than rosy. So I toss 'em. Not enough of a negative to keep me from loving this product!

top doesn't stay shut Feb 15, 2005
By Jebjkey My husband bought this warmer when our daughter was born. He also bought one by DEX (Target sells them and Walmart used to), not the travel one they sell here, but the full size one. Both warmed the wipes well enough, but I found the top of the Prince Lion Heart one didn't like to stay closed after a few months of using it (daughter is now 12 wks old). The DEX just lifts ups and so you don't have to worry about latches wearing out. I just bought another DEX brand warmer after the lid to the Prince Lion Heart one kept popping up on me and wouldn't stay shut. The plastic latch eventually wears out, so although it's a good idea in theory, in reality it just doesn't hold up. Also, I've found that I like the design of the DEX one better...the wipes warm from the top down, so you don't have to worry about an "Ever Fresh" pad to change at the bottom. And it just makes more sense to warm from the top instead of the bottom--you use the wipes from the top of the container, not the bottom, so who cares if the bottom of the pile of wipes is warm? As you use the wipes, the air in the container stays warm and keeps the wipes warm all the way to the last one in the container. The browning that people are talking about--I think I know what it is since the Ever Fresh pad that I have in mine is turning brown, even though I change it more often than what the manufacturers suggest and I use filtered water to moisten it instead of tap water. It still turns brown. Another reason I chose to buy another DEX warmer--no pads to buy! It's just another thing to spend more money on and with 4 children, I don't have that luxury! Definitely go with the DEX Baby Products wipe warmer rather than this one.

You might be surprised at the difference it makes Jul 23, 2004
By Daddy O Before buying this wipes warmer, I wasn't sure if we really "needed" one. But when I saw the reaction our newborn was having to cold wipes, I knew that it wouldn't hurt to try. Now I am happy that we did try it. I don't see the same reaction any more, so it seems to be helpful (even on a 100 degree California summer day).
This particular model seems to have a small problem with the latch on the pop-up lid. About every third time or so, it does not latch properly, and the lid pops back up. But with just the right touch, I eventually get it to latch. This seems to be the main brand on the market, so I would know any other to recommend.
The wipes do cool down fairly quick, so you need to use them immediately after removing them from the dispenser. This makes sense though, since you wouldn't want them to get so warm that they are hot to the touch.
I give it 4 stars. If it weren't for the latch problem, I might give it 5. A useful, optional item that is worth trying. You might find the same results as I did.
