Pedlar Pro Exerciser by BattleCreek From Amazon Jun 15, 2011
By SC I read all the reviews on the different mini pedlars and whether it was electric or manual, most seemed to have the same comments, they do not stay in place. I sit at a desk all day and was looking for something I could use under my desk while I work. I also have bad knees and wanted to try and strengthen them. Taking this into account I was looking for one of the heavier models. I found others that weight about 2 pounds more but also cost more than double. I did not want to invest the extra money if it was still going to move around when being used. I decided to purchase the Pedlar Pro for several reasons. Two local pharmacies sold this Pedlar but at a much higher price. I felt if they sold it for therapy, it should be decent. The 2nd was that it was one of the lowest heights. I originally wanted to use the pedlar under my desk at work but did have doubts even before I purchased, and third, the price was good. I received the pedlar and like others said, it did move around. It does not work under my desk because there is not enough room for my legs to pedal. I have the position on next to the lowest possible position and still my knees hit the top of my desk. The other reason is, it was too hard to work on the computer while peddling. It was not efficient reading the computer screen and typing while peddling. I then tried using the pedlar while sitting on a couch. That did not work. The pedlar was moving all over the place. I finally tried sitting on a bar stool, the pedlar on tile. That works pretty well. It seems your legs need to be in a more upright position vs. an incumbent position to keep the unit from sliding. It moves, but not that much. The best way is if you have the pedlar up against a piece of furniture that does not move or a wall. The description says you can adjust the tension. I did not find the Pedlar has any tension no matter how I adjusted the knob. As the other reviews state, the metal by the tension knob gets very hot with use. Just make sure you don't pick up the unit near the tension knob. I am using the Pedlar Pro while watching TV for knee strengthening. If you are looking for something just to keep you moving, then this will work. If you are looking for a good workout, this will not give you that. If you are looking for something to keep under your desk while you work, you will need a high desk.

Great! Sep 13, 2009
By paintswithcats Works really well! Not noisy. Comfortable to use. I really like that I can adjust the angle of the peddles and that I can fold it up and tuck it away after use. I highly recommend this for someone who wants gentle but effective exercise for their knees.

There is room for product improvement Feb 28, 2010

I ordered this product to add a little motion to the extended hours I spend in front of the computer at work and home. (I am pursuing an on line degree, so I sit in front of the home computer to listen to class.)
The product has a few shortcomings which I thought would be eliminated in this model as it is a little more expensive than similar models that cost less but reportedly have the same issue.
The adjuster to tighten the pedal resistance is not good. You can either make it too tight and it loosens by itself or else.
Also, there should be a warning label on the part that gets extremely warm after a 30 mins rigorous pedaling. I am not joking, I touched it inadvertently and burned my fingertips as if I held a frying pan.
The rest is ok. You get a workout while sitting and doing something else. The construct of the product is sturdy. I am using it but I still believe there is room to improve.

Perfect little exerciser! Sep 12, 2009
By Joseph T. Wells I bought this for my wife to pedal in front of the TV. The product is perfect for its use. Very well made and priced reasonably. This is probably the best on the market and we expect many years of use from it. Highly recommend!!

Good for elderly and weak, not anyone else Mar 31, 2011

"Incurable Book Worm"
I bought this for my elderly mother who has COPD so that she can exercise comfortably in front of the TV on days she doesn't go to rehab. I tried it myself first after I opened the box. (Important note, I am an avid exerciser, particularly on a stationary bike). I found the device completely ridiculous for my own uses - flimsy, with an "arm" length that is way to short to actually work any major muscles. The tightening pin causes the movements to become jerky when tightened.
However, my mother tried it and immediately said she could feel the workout in her thigh muscles. So.... I guess it's well designed for her. I Think it will need some sort of adjustment (oiling?) so it doesn't get jerky when tightened.
Nice rubber grips on bottom, didn't slip on the carpet at all, but did slip when we put it up on a hardwood table for arm workout. So a rubber slip mat would be useful in such situations.
We'll see how it goes over the next few months (if my mom even uses it!). :-)
