capsules are very useful in my workouts Apr 10, 2012
By Janice Edwards I've been using these capsules in conjunction with PEA (Phenylethylamine Hcl) Bulk Powder 50 Grams (the ingredient that is in chocolate that allows them to say chocolate is good for you!). I've had more energy for my workouts but also these supplements have really helped my focus and concentration, and just an overall feeling of well being seems not go away since I started this regime. I like how I feel more calmer..relaxed..and energy boost is nice also : )

What a nice surprise! Jun 26, 2010
By J. K. C. Carter I had read about Schizandra and its effects, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. Nonetheless, I ordered some. It turns out that it immediately helped my stress levels immensely! Between my personal life and my rather stressful work life, I was well overstressed. I was so happy with the difference it made for me, that I wanted to know if it was just a placebo effect. I convinced my husband to try it too, and he has also become less stressed. We have nicknamed our daily supplement "wonder berries!"

As a Stop Smoking Aid Aug 25, 2010
By E. Quon I bought this to help a family member quit smoking. She started Schizandra 2 weeks before her quit date, 2 capsules in the morning and one in the evening. She seems steadier, less stressed, more confident and a lot better able to deal with life's challenges... pretty amazing during her first month off cigarettes. However, she had only smoked 3-7 cigarettes a day and she also sometimes uses a few Nicorette mini mints some days (tossing them before fully consumed to reduce the nicotine dose).
Schizandra is an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps your body cope with stress and rebalance itself. Some sources feel that you need to stop taking them for a while to maintain effectiveness. One of my doctors suggested no more than 6 weeks on, then at least a 2 week vacation. My former smoker is taking Nature's Way Rhodiola Rosea (also an adaptogen) during her 2 week break.

Almost makes me wish I had trouble sleeping May 11, 2012
By K. Hall After doing some research on supplements that potentially boost memory, I began taking Schizandra about two weeks ago. I started taking 1500+mg a day (the recommended dose given in the peer reviewed studies I'd read ranged from 500 mg to 2 grams daily.) Also, since I couldn't find any information that suggested otherwise, I initially split the dosage into threes times a day (morning, noon and night) instead of all at once.
A few days later, I started to become drowsy for what seemed to be all day long. I'm an evening working, so I'd find myself getting up at 9am, eating breakfast, taking my supplements *then heading back to bed*. I'd wake up just in time to get ready for work and make it in without being late, then within the first two hours doing head bobs at my desk, and seriously fighting to stay awake. Mind you, I'd taken my second round of supplements before I'd left my place.
After making it home from work around 12:30am, I'm usually able to stay up about two hours before I'm tired enough to sleep, but of course, having taken my last round of pills for the day about an hour before, I was suddenly asleep on my feet by the time I got my key in the door.
Of course I figured that one on the supplements I was taking had to be responsible, and initially thought it was a some sort to unfortunate side effect. However, after more closely reading the studies, it seems that, along with memory, one of the other things Schizandra is potentially able to do is help you sleep. I immediately stopped taking the morning and evening doses and instead, reserved them for right before bedtime.
The daytime drowsiness disappeared entirely.
I can't say whether or not Schizandra has helped my memory one iota, but if you're having a problem sleeping, I can stay with complete confidence that you want to give this stuff a try. At the minimum, it really does appear that it helps with at least one of the things (sleep) that it's purported to.
