 Must Have Production Aide for breast feeding Jun 15, 2007

With both of my pregnancies, I have had difficulty producing enough milk for my babies. With my first pregnancy, after experiencing some negative reactions to the medicated pills the hospital gives to increase production, I was told to try the herbal Fenugreek pills. While these pills helped a little (I mean a little), they also made me and my baby smell like maple syrup for as long as I took them.
I just had my second child in April and this hospital recommended More Milk Plus to me after I was having production problems again (due to a hormone imbalance). I have been using these pills for 2 months now and they are great! Not only have they assisted me with being able to produce enough for my baby's needs, it has even increased my production enough to be able to pump and actually store some milk for later feedings. This product is excellent for those women struggling with not producing enough milk. I highly recommend it.

I heard about this product from my lactation consultant. I returned to work 4 weeks ago when my baby was 8 weeks old. He's eating 4 oz of milk when I'm away from him...and I was only able to pump 2.5 ounces at work each time. I started these about a week ago, and on I'm now able to pump between 3-4 ounces each time. It is helping me keep up with him. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I was hoping I would be able to pump extra...but I'm still satisfied with any increase! It is kind of pricy too--but I figure it's still cheaper than buying formula and my milk is the best for my baby :)

I had high hopes for More Milk Plus since it contained a blend of herbs. I thought it would work better than fenugreek alone or a nursing tea. This was not the case. I think More Milk Plus is overpriced. I got better results from either fenugreek alone (2-3 caps 3 times a day) or Yogi Nursing Mother's tea (3 cups a day). And they are cheaper. I will not repurchase More Milk Plus. After talking to other nursing mom's in a local breastfeeding group we have come to the conclusion that More Milk Plus works better for skinny moms that weigh less than 150lbs. For those of us who weigh more, and thus take the higher does, we did not see the results.

Didn't Work For Me & Dosage Instructions are Inconvenient Aug 01, 2011

First time mom. I was having trouble producing enough milk so I purchased More Milk Plus with high hopes and I was quickly disappointed. I also found the dosage instructions to be quite inconvenient: You can't drink water 20 minutes before or 20 minutes after you take the pills (you can only swallow them with no more than 2 oz of water) and if you are over 175 pounds you have to take two pills 3 times a day and if you are under 175 then its 1 pill 4 times a day. It's a lot of work keeping track of taking them so often on top making sure you didn't drink fluids before and after each dosage especially when you have a baby to care for 24/7. Motherlove's other products like the nipple cream, belly salve and perinea massage/baby massage oil is great so I do recommend those products.
1st Step Breast Milk supplements worked best for me and they can be found at Walgreens for $15, they increased my supply about 30-40% within a few days and its only 2 pills daily, no liquid restrictions. Less expensive and worked MUCH better than More Milk Plus.

I stared to have milk production problems when my baby was only 2 weeks. I took the mother love tea for a couple weeks and it did not work at all, then I started taking fenugreek alone and pumping several times a day for at least 20 min at a time and I just wasn't able to increase my production. My son's daily consumption of formula increased from 1 oz to about 15 oz a day; then I decided to try this product and I began to notice a difference in about a week after starting it, my son began to take less and less formula and now he is a fully breastfeed baby; I have been on the pills for a little under 3 months and I'm still nursing, my baby just had his 4 month check up and he is on the 98th percentile for both height and weight. I'm a very proud mom and I recommend this product to any struggling mom that really has the desire breastfeed.
More milk plus is worth the price for my family!
