Still the best police baton even though its popularity has declined over the years. Jan 30, 2011

As a retired police officer and retired International PR-24 Police Baton Instructor, I still think this baton, created by the late Lon Anderson and manufactured by Monadnock, is superior than the straight police baton. At one time close to 50% of police agencies carried the PR-24 side handle baton, but because of negative publicity, the expandable straight batons are now the most popular models being carried. Nevertheless, this is an excellent baton for blocking, striking and applying control holds on a resisting subject. The short handle also makes it an easy baton to grip and hold onto during resisting arrest situations. I carried one for more than twenty years and as I have stated previously, it is still the most effective and versatile police baton ever created.
In conclusion, the PR-24STS baton is a strong, sturdy and well-made baton and the price is a bargain.

By Saying it like it is
Product listed as advertised, and shipped fast. It is solid and heavy. I saw subsequently saw similar listings at lower prices, but at the time, this was the lowest price on amazon. Maybe during certain times of the year, police departments upgrade equipment and get rid of old .... something to consider while shopping. FYI I see no need to buy NEW if they come in this kind of USED-BUT-FUNCTIONAL condition.
