Effective workout - raises the heartrate and strengthens the lower body. Requires little indoor storage space. Upper body is free to read while exercising. After 6 months the cable snapped, however the company, Gaiam promptly replaced it at no cost to me.

I decided to write this review because most of the other reviews on this product fail to include one very important bit of information: you CANNOT adjust the tension on the pedals. You can adjust how high or low the pedals go, but not the tension with which they move. For me, that was a very big disappointment and a serious problem. The tension on the pedals is set to very easy. While this may seem great to some, it actually makes the workout much more difficult when you have no time at all to "rest" between steps. A high tension setting allows the user to take it slower and rest a tiny bit between steps--obviously the makers of this mini-stepper didn't realize that. The easy tension setting also makes it more difficult to balance on the machine. When I ordered this, I really didn't think balance would be a problem, but it is. I have to lean on my dresser while I use it, and that's just a pain in the butt. The resistance bands don't help much in the way of balancing, but they do have quite a bit of tension on them and could give you a pretty good arm workout. My ultimate recommendation is: don't go with mini-steppers. There's a reason exercise retailers don't carry them. You need a good machine that allows you to adjust all the parameters of your workout. What you gain in space efficiency with this mini-stepper you lose in workout quality.

I bought this mini stepper at another store for $49.00 and started working out
right away. I do my exercises in the morning for about one hour.
This thing will make you sweat.
I can see the results after just one week! It is really working!
I bought the sauna suit to help me to get rid of some water weight,
and hope it'll help me to get back in the shape sooner.
I'd recommend this product to people who want to loose 10-20lb.

The Gaiam mini stepper with resistance cords is a great product. It can fit in a small space because I hate clutter. I can also take it with me when I visit the grandchildren. It was really worth the money.

This is just what I was looking for. It allows me to "walk" at home without having a huge, cumbersome piece of equipment. It is well constructed and I enjoy using it.
