Good so far Jan 28, 2009
By S. Briggs I've had this product assembled and in use for about 2 weeks now, and so far I'm quite happy with it. It seems sturdy and it's comfortable to use. The assembly took about an hour and a half with two people--without a second person you'd be doing some juggling but it would be possible. If you have trouble with dexterity or hand strength, I would definitely recommend getting someone to help you put it together because some of the pre-installed bolts are very tight and a couple of the locations are a little tricky to get to. The assembly directions were fairly clear, and it includes the tools you'll need. I got a 7ft long mat for it to sit on, though you could probably get away with a 6ft mat. It runs smoothly and quietly. We'll see how it performs over time, but so far I'd say it was worth the price, and I intend to be using it on a daily basis.

Solid Machine Jun 30, 2009
By Kathleen Powers This is my second elliptical. My first by Sportscraft I wore our in 4 years.I've had this machine for 2 weeks, so far I'm satisfied. The programs, of which there are 8, give me a good work out. Besides a minor squeak that has developed, maybe because I need to tighten something, the machine runs smoothly. I bought the 725E because the advertisement on Amazon stated it had a 14.3lb flywheel and in my research discovered the larger flywheel gives a smoother workout. This is not the case. The 725E has a 10.4lb flywheel, same as the 715E. The only difference between the machines 725E has to be plugged in 715E runs on batteries.

Great Elliptical! Sep 12, 2009

I bought a really cheap one that lasted about 3 years and then the belt snapped. I liked it but I hadn't owned an "expensive" one. So I upgraded to this elliptical and what a difference. The movements are smooth. The programs are really effective. And I am surprised at how comfortable the stride is. On my last one it was so small my heels would catch on the back wheel. This has a large area for movement yet doesn't take up a huge footprint like some of the other ellipticals out in the market. Really great product and the price is great. The box is heavy when delivered but my delivery guy brought it all the way up -- (elevator) and into my loft. And ladies, it was very easy to assemble. It me only took about an hour.

Have had it over a year now. Oct 05, 2010
By Fallen So after having this machine for over a year I can tell you that it is a nice machine, but I would not buy another one. When I first got it it worked great. No noises, bumps, or wobbles. Now the machine makes groaning and creaking noise every time you use it. If you get going on it well it throws the balance off the machine and it wobbles back and forth to the point that my Itouch screen goes side ways. lol The control panel itself has no memory, so if you want to work with out the beeps you have to turn it off every time you turn it on, and if you barely touch the ac adapter that goes into the machine it unplugs.
I do love all the work out choices the machine has, I just wish the longevity was a tad longer. lol The choice is yours to make, but remember there were warnings! heehee

Did not last and follow up Aug 29, 2011

"honest opinion"
I have the Merit 720e for 2 1/2 years now and mine did the same thing. It started to wobble and make noises. I could not figure out at first what was wrong until I actually picked up the front part of the machine to find out that the welding of the bracket attached to the front of the main frame (that bracket screws onto the front tube) was broke. One can not see it when just looking at the machine. So take a closer look. Since Merit give you 5 years warranty on the frame, I contacted the Co. and emailed them pictures and a copy of my receipt, and today I found out they decided, that my machine is not fixable, so they mostlikely will replace it. I still have to wait for the final word on that within 2 days when they call me back. So far customer service worked great. In 2 days I know more. I hope, should I get a new machine that it will live longer. Update: Just got another call from Customer service; the guy I talked earlier to gave me wrong info. Since I got the machine from Academy Sports store, Merit (Horizon) tells me to bring it back to the store so they will return it, and I should get my money back. To bad that the eliptical did not last. It was working nice for the time it did work, and it was a very good price. Now it will be hard to find something durable for that price range. I had a Pro Form from Walmart before I got the Merit and the Pro Form lasted only 8 month. I am not a very big person, 178 pounds mostly muscles. These days nothing build to last. Follow up: I went to Academy to return the Merit 720E and Academy told me that they are not oblegated to take it back since they do not sell it anymore, and Merit should honor the 5 year frame waranty. Fortunatly the manager was very nice and still let me exchange it with a new Horizon EX 59. Cost $599 (had to pay the difference $250). Way better machine. Better to spent more money and get the Horizon EX 59. Dissapointed from Merit customer service; they realy try to take the easy way out. Be aware.
