This is great for arthritic joints. I find the scent relaxing, too. Don't heat for more than a couple minutes as it becomes very hot.

I had 2 concerns when I purchased this item for my grandmother. Others had said the lavender odor was too strong, but I did not find this to be the case, and neither has my grandmother. The pad was a little heavier than I was expecting (due to the rice, obviously), but again not a problem for my 88-year-old grandmother. She loves it!
