Better than Medela Jun 03, 2010
By L. Peterson After discovering that Madela bags can make your milk smell and taste rancid, I switched. But, I also did a little comparison work:
Lansinoh bags can hold up to 6 ounces of breast milk.
Medela bags can hold up to 5 ounces of breast milk.
Lansinoh: On the simplest level, the Lansinoh bag is easier to open and pour milk into than the Medela bag. The reason I find it easier is because of the material the bag is made out of and the bag is more pliable. You open the bag by removing a small strip that is perforated on the top. There are two seals on these bags, which is a huge plus. It's a comfort in preventing leaks.
The reason why Lansinoh wins the freezing process is because they lay flat very well. I've found that when laid flat, the bag freezes into a solid rectangle of milk that is consistent in thickness. It is also easy to "stack" once frozen which is very helpful for organizing. It's also important to squeeze all the air out of the bag which is much easier to do since there is not a large plastic section at the top, like in the Medela bags.
Medela: The Medela bags have the ability to be attached directly to a pump. As a result, there is a large plastic area on the top of the bag that is perforated. This makes these bags a little bit more awkward to open.
Lansinoh: Since these bags are fantastic for the freezing process, they are easier to thaw because they are consistently the same thickness. They look like a perfect rectangle of frozen milk. Or you can freeze the bag standing up. My husband loves how easy it is to thaw these out. Way easier than Medela.
Medela: Bag leaks when you thaw it and sometimes they leak in the freezer (which really is a mess). This is because there is only one seal instead of the double seal on the Lansinoh bags.

Super thin, leaky bags Nov 30, 2010
By P. S. Waters

Out of the 3 brands of storage bags we've used (Medela, Lansinoh, and Simplisse), my favorite is the Simplisse.
The Medela bags only have a single zipper, and I had a lot of problems with bags leaking through the opening either during freezing or thawing. Also, the Medela bags only hold about 5 oz, so that meant having a LOT of bags to keep track of. The Lansinoh and Simplisse hold 8-10oz each.
The Lansinoh bags were our next shot. While they have a double zipper, the bags are super thin. Consequently, we would have a lot of problems with bags leaking elsewhere - either through an undetected puncture or through one of the seams. I would guess about 1 in 4 bags would spring a leak when thawing.
The Simplisse bags have a double zipper and are thicker than the Lansinoh - though not quite as thick as the Medela. In the box and a half we've used so far, I've had probably 3 leaks - and 2 of which were definitely my fault (the bag froze around the edge of a shelf, and I ripped the bag while forcing it off.)

I've tried them all - and these are the best! Nice thick plastic, secure closure, never leaked once (and I had a LOT of milk!).

Missing from instructions... Mar 09, 2011
By Alex Thimble I read many reviews before deciding to switch away from the Medela bags to these. I have been pumping regularly and freezing. I started thawing the other day only to find that these bags leak in the seams! Never had this problem with Medela. I called Lansinoh customer service and they said you are supposed to lay them flat to freeze, otherwise the milk expands and busts through the seams when thawing. The answer came so quickly, obviously they are aware of the issue. Then why not put it in the instructions on the packaging? I have ruined several bags of precious low supply milk. Buyer beware. Lansinoh, please modify your packaging.

Great for freezing breastmilk Aug 10, 2010
By casie_mag Perfect milk storage solution. I work full time and have to store milk for my son while im not home. these bags have never leaked on me, they have a double ziplock top. You can lay them flat to disribute the milk evenly throughout the bag wich makes storage much easier and thawing milk a lot faster.couldn't ask for a better product.
