This is very good bread mix. It works out to less than three dollars a loaf. It actually tastes like bread. It is very tasty and has good texture.Much better than the bread you buy at the store. Plus when you make it at home it is always fresh. I will be trying the rye and plain white next.

I tried these mixes because my sister likes them with her bread machine. I just get tired of having to think too much about what to put in my bread, so, a mix made sense. The yeast is really sensitive to temp, use your thermometer to be sure the water is not too hot. Reliable delicious bread or rolls with only a few minutes of effort. I want to try them all now.

Crazy good to add stuff Jul 20, 2008

I made this a couple times as is out of the box with great results.
I live with my brother, who shares my love of heated foods; he suggested adding a little heat to this mix. What a great idea it turned out to be.
My first try was some dried, ground chili peppers (I dry my own in a dehydrator); not bad.
Next, I tried some fresh, finely chopped jalapenos. Wow, what a great loaf!
Here's the thing; if using dried peppers, put them in at the beginning. If using the fresh peppers, put them in at the time for add-ins (according to the instructions for your machine).

We have been purchasing this bread mix for a couple of years now. It virtually never fails to make good bread in our bread machine. The bread is a heavy bread with a subtle and, we think, quite a good taste. If you like a good dense bread with a slightly different flavor you may very well like this.

This is a tasty, hearty bread with great texture, fabulous flavor. Smells fantastic while baking. Makes a beautiful loaf of bread that holds up well when cut. I've had many bread mixes that didn't rise properly or came out gummy. This was perfect.
