It seems with children and allergies, we have colds in our house all the time. Naturopaths recommend nasal irrigation to prevent colds. Normal saline burned the kids noses. In desperation, I bought this. It is wonderful. The kids use it double strength, twice a day if they feel a cold coming on. I am convinced it has prevented colds and cut in half the amount of time they are sick. My husband and I are Internal Medicine physicians and we swear by this product. Our other family members love it and so do our patients. It is gentle, and really works.

Product is good but I can't use it May 11, 2009

Please be aware that some people have sensitivities to saline solution, no matter how gentle. I happen to be one of them. I used the irrigator which felt wonderful but then started getting pain in my sinuses, just my right side. I contacted the company and they recommended that I try Alkalol. I will but if I have problems with this then I'm going to just use warm, distilled water. The company told me that some people are sensitive to the solution. In case you are, I wanted to post to let you know.

My guess is that it's cheaper to make one's own version of a solution than buying this pre-mixed combination. Question of how much time and effort one wants to put into mixing one's own cheaper combination. In my case, it's worth paying up for the pre-mixed combination. Works very well (i.e. no stinging) --- in fact downright pleasant to use -- and particularly effective in combination with some Alkalol mixed in.

I purchased the Grossan unit after my Dad bought one and suggested I try it out. I ordered mine the same day and have used it daily for the past month, or so. It has helped me sleep better (I used to frequently wake up due to sinus headaches), and I think I have taken medication for my sinuses only once since using this, where it was daily prior to using this unit. I've read the reviews about it breaking down after about a year; if it does, I'll order another one. The sense of relief I've had with this, and the money I've saved on medication makes it a bargain, not to mention that I would rather use this more natural method than taking more meds.

I really couldn't tell any difference between this product and the saline solution that came with the nettie pot. Maybe it will work better when I use it for a longer period of time.
