Great Product for a Bad Habit. Dec 25, 2008
By Elaine -
"Busy Business Owner"
For the holidays, I usually like to go to my favorite hotel to get lost. Unfortunately, I'm a smoker and the rooms I'm booked into smell like they just had a poker game. I decided to get this for my latest trip.
Within 3 hours after plugging it in, the smell left and even after I had a cigarette, the odor was gone within an hour. I'll probably leave the room smelling better than when I checked in.
Great product. And yes, I will eventually quit smoking.

This works!! Dog, guinea pig, and diaper room odor control. Jul 23, 2010
By Heather I bought three of these, and they are amazing.
I have one next to our guinea pig cage (we have 5), and the downstairs always smells bad. Now, unless you are right next to the cage, you can't smell a thing.
I put the second in our diaper changing room. Its amazing. The smell of dirty diapers used to waft into our kitchen, but no more.
Lastly, I put the third next to our dogs cage in our room. She is a big dog, and not completely house trained. Up side, our room doesn't smell like dog at all. Down side, when she messes in her crate we don't smell it, we have to find it in the morning.
As a whole, they are amazing. I have been struggling with odors for so long, and refuse to spray a bunch of chemicals in the air to mask them. This little device just sucks them up. We leave them on 24/7 and so far we are just shy of 1/2 way through the life of the first filter, and we've had them for almost 3 weeks. Looks like we'll go through one filter every 6-7 weeks.
All in all, five stars. You can't hear it running unless you get right up next to it, and it even has a small pad on the backside of the unit so it won't droop against the wall.

the best thing that has ever happened to me! Mar 30, 2011
By K. Kelley This air filter is without a doubt the best thing that has ever happened to me. Seems a little melodramatic, right? I'm not kidding. Some people get married, some people have children, and some people finally find a way to cover up the disgusting and off-putting smell of their cat's litter box. The latter happened to me and now I'm here to tell you one thing: BUY THIS! I live in a 515 square foot studio apartment and in case you are wondering how small that it is, it's incredibly small. Imagine the closet of a celebrity, that is the size of my apartment. I live with my 2 cats and their lovely bathroom - the litter box. My entire apartment has always smelled like a cat's bathroom no matter what litter I used; countless products I sprinkled on the litter, air deodorizers I've wasted many precious dollars on, organic 'high quality' foods, scooping after every bowel movement. You name it, I've tried it. I saw this little contraption on Amazon during a desperate search one stinky evening. I figured, what the heck, it was worth a try. When it arrived, I plugged it in and went to work. I came home 10 hours later and when I opened the door to my apartment, for the first time I wasn't hit smack in the face with the stench of cat excrement. Surely I had walked into the wrong apartment, but nope, there were my 2 smelly cats sleeping on my couch. This little air filter solved the most annoying, bothersome, smelly problem in my life. I have friends over now and the first thing they say to me when they walk in is, "What happened to your cats? I can't smell them." I never in all my life been so thankful for a product. It literally eliminates every foul odor imaginable. Thank you, odor removal air filter. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Rids odors but not rapidly; patience required Oct 23, 2009
By S. Potter Though I can only give the Febreze 3 stars, I am glad I own it and would buy it again. It's about the only odor removal solution for the windowless, ventless bathroom in my office. The thing, however, is its small size and relatively weak motor severely limit how quickly it removes odors.
The bathroom where it labors is very small, 28" x 81". After someone has "used" the bathroom, it will take the Febreze two to three hours to remove the odors if the door is closed. As one would imagine, if the door is left slightly open the odors disappear more rapidly. However, I do not want the odors to escape the bathroom, I want them filtered out. The good news is after 5-8 minutes the "edge" is off the odor and breathing becomes more tolerable with each passing minute.
The activated charcoal filter is what makes this thing work. One should be able to get to 3 months use out of a filter before buying a new one, according to the package. The unit's small size does have some positive aspects. For instance, the Febreze is unobtrusive and quiet.
I would like to see a larger version with a corded plug so it could rest on the floor or a counter; thus allowing for a larger, heavier motor and larger filter. For now, though, I will be thankful for the good work it does even if it does so slowly.
The packaging does not attempt to mislead prospective purchasers. It does state it works best in smaller spaces and is not meant for a large room. Though the unit for sale here is clearly labeled "Febreze", one may still find a nearly identical machine sold under the Hamilton Beach name. Some vendors sell it under both the Hamilton Beach and Febreze names.
Bottom line (no pun intended): It is a good product within the limitations of its small size. Recommended for smaller rooms.

Excellent product Aug 08, 2007
By Nomdeplume I've used this in rooms with pet odors and even milk spills on carpet that needed a cleaning job that I couldn't get to until the next day. It really controls the odor! I love it.
