By aquapt I won't say that there's no use for this product. You certainly can do some strengthening exercises with it, and there are advantages to the four handles as opposed to a single elastic band. (Though you could easily rig up something like this using two elastic bands...) It's not horribly overpriced or anything, so it's fine for what it is. It's just that the name doesn't do a good job of describing what it is.
If you want to work your abs in a sitting position, you need something that resists the motion where your arms press down toward your knees. If you lift your arms away from your knees - the motion this product resists, as in the photo - then you're working your back extensors (in addition to your shoulders), not your abs.
For a seated ab workout, get a Pilates ring or similar product (you can accomplish the same thing with a rubber playground ball, or even work isometrically by pressing down on a table, but the rings are fun to use). Sit the ring on your thigh, and press *down* with the arms. Lifting *up* with the arms doesn't target the abs. Just sayin'... :-)

great workout Apr 29, 2010
By Carlos A. Avalos I will be brief. If you don't have a bowflex .... try this. Is cheaper and it works under the same principles.
You can walk with it at home working out, dance, jump, anything you want to workout with this Everlast Pilates 4-Way Ab Stretch .... they invigorate your body, you get more muscle tone, and strength you did not know you had before, just do it 10 seconds every day. That's what I do. I still use the one I bought 6 years ago, even they are messed up already .. they still work, just in case ... I bought 4 more that I hope last for a long long time. Good luck, and try them out.

This is a good item for limited exercise. Easy to use.
Kinda' like minimalist Yoga! Like all exercise equipment if you don't use it you lose it!
