You get what you pay for May 06, 2007

The last thing I wanted to do was pay $30 for ankle weights and I knew there are cheaper versions of ankle weights but you get what you pay for. The metal weights in the Everlast model are easily removable and it's comfortable no matter how many bars are attached.
I'm currently using these ankle weights to rehab my knee back from ACL reconstruction surgery. Each week I increase the weights (up to 5 lbs) max. These Everlast weights are more comfortable than the ankle weights I use when I'm with my physical therapist. Well worth the investment.

Favorite ankle weights Sep 26, 2008
By M. Hays I prefer these to any of the other ankle weights I've owned. The prior weights I've owned all had sand, and all ended up leaking and messing up the house getting me in hot water with the spouse. They are good for weight training/injury rehab and are comfortable enough. I don't think I would want to run in them though.

Expected a more robust product... Nov 21, 2009
By Art van Law

...for this price point. I started using this product in July, and by mid November it started to fail. The material is insufficiently reinforced or perhaps a more robust material should have been chosen for this application. I'm referring to the lower portion of the individual tube pockets against which the individual bar weights press. Today one finally wore through and fell out as I was walking. Upon close inspection, several other areas (there are ten pockets containing bar weights per ankle weight) have started to wear through, and eventually it appears most will fail with the resulting loss of the bar weights. Additionally, the velcro fasteners have started to pull off which can be easily repaired or tacked w/ heavy weight thread. Repairing the lower portion of the tube pockets is another more challenging matter which I have yet to tackle. To clarify, I have been wearing these weights continually. If you think four months is a good value for the price, then go for it. Most occasional users probably will not use it long enough as I have to experience fabric failure. This is just a word to the manufacturer that I am disappointed. Everlast? I don't think so.

Great for knee rehab Feb 24, 2009
By M. H. Jackson

Thanks to patella-femoral syndrome, I effectively have the knees of someone twice my age. I was still trying to run, but barely able to walk down the stairs, when my doctor recommended some light ankle weights for PT. These are great for my purposes (several sets of leg lifts and curls). But they are not the kind of thing you would strap on before jogging down the street (too bulky). They are well made, and the small weights within make it easy to adjust resistance. I also like that they are filled with actual weights and not sand, as some cheaper models are. Overall, a great value and perfect product for physical therapy or light reps.

Materials are low quality Feb 07, 2010
By M. Leonard I have had the same bad experience with these weights as Art van Law - the "tube pockets" in which the weights are carried are wearing through and the velcro fasteners are tearing off. I have had these weights for approx six months and use them at the gym about four times a week. After about two months I noticed a surprising amount of wear on the bottoms of the weight pockets, and a month later, the velcro strips started tearing off.
Overall, the quality of the materials is extremely low and I expect the weights to be completely unusable within another month or two. Very surprising given the reputation of Everlast (truly a misnomer in this case.)
