helpful is an understatement Apr 06, 2008

This ambulation belt is awesome. I use it to help both my 90 year old mother and 93 year old aunt (both are wheelchair bound). Transferring them with the help of this belt has been so much easier than before. I wish I had found this a year ago. The belt is comfortably padded, the buckle is absolutely secure, and the many grip options make any position or movement easy to assist with. I absolutely recommend this product!

A very happy PT! Aug 08, 2008
By BerryPatchWest I'm a pediatric Physical Therapist and have used this belt (the medium) with many of my high school aged students. This belt is very easy to set up and clicks in place just like a seat belt. The belt is very wide and padded so it is MUCH more comfortable than the typical canvas belt. There are multiple grab points and the belt is very easy to use. I HIGHLY recommend this belt to my colleagues as well as family members of loved ones who struggle with their balance. If you have never used a gait belt or practiced gait training, an inservice by your PT is highly recommended.

need experience or training to use Apr 05, 2008

This belt is well made and strong while the padding is soft but sturdy. However if you are a first time user you should have a physical therapist show you how to use it. Also if the person you are purchasing it for is sensitive to pressure around their waist and/or stomach you must be careful in your use.
The product itself actually deserves a 5 star rating, but I only gave a 4 star on account of the needed instruction.

Slick nylon slides Aug 20, 2008
By B. Jensen Only one problem, the nylon is as slick as can be, so if I try to support any weight, belt slides right up under arms, a bad thing.
Not as expected at all, too slippery! Jan 28, 2011
By J. Chin Did not provide the support we needed to help elderly patient regain balance for walking. Slipped as fabric slippery. Ordered 2 of the same, 2nd that arrived was totally different and inferior to what was ordered, plus arrived late. Requested refund, which Amazon, luckily obliged. Thank goodness for their understanding!
