Better than expected Aug 27, 2010

I have been in the market for a multi-function home workout system for a few months now, and have been investigating and reading up on these products online and in sports equipment stores. While there are several products with similar features, what drew me to the Dosho was 1) the lift-assist straps, and 2) the versatility. Also, while I was initially attracted to the lower-priced equipment at the sports equipment stores, when I checked out the demos on the floor, they were often flimsy and felt cheap.
I received my Dosho gym around the holidays last year and couldn't be happier with my decision. The box arrived when it stated it would, and it was fairly quick and easy to assemble. The gym is fairly sturdy (even for a bigger guy like me) and feels like the equipment they have at the gym. I haven't experienced any of the problems that a couple of the other reviews experienced, so perhaps they've worked out all of the bugs.
I use my gym a couple times a week, and while I don't put it away between uses, I do fold the sides in so that it doesn't take up too much space in the corner of my room when I'm not using it. I recommend this gym to others that don't mind paying a bit more for a product that will last and work exactly as expected.

Dosho Gym is awesome! Mar 09, 2011
By Cordellia I have been unemployed since 2009. Obesity and depression often go hand in hand. When I am depressed, I tend to be inactive and not exercise as much, and I also eat more. I took antidepressants for my mental sanity, which are associated with weight gain as well. Needless to say I gained 23 lbs. With today's skyrocketing gym membership fees, hours driving to the gym which costs money for gas and paying monthly fees that I don't even have, I decided on investing in a home fitness equipment to use. After doing an extensive amount of research, for me it was a no-brainer. My top choice was Dosho Gym. for best value and cost. I am very content with my self and a proud owner of Dosho Gym. I use my gym. money to purchase fresh organic products. I lost all the weight I gained and some more. I have never felt better before. I highly recommend it.

has flaws, terrible customer service Jun 11, 2010

The machine has many functions, and I like that. The issues I see is it can be a little tedious putting it together as the paint is thick and does not allow the bolts to slide in. My machine came with a crooked leg attachment. It looks like it was welded at an angle and the right side sits higher than the left side. Not good. I called Dosho, they said no problem, a technician will contact me. No call, I called again and they had no idea who I was. This person told me no problem, got my information and will send it right out. I waited a week, called again to verify, and no idea who I was and that I had called before. This person told me to email the technician on my own. I decided to send an email to customer service stating I will just return the machine for a full refund. Miracuously they called me within one hour of the email and said they will create a tracking number so everything is documented and send me a new leg attachment. They did do so, but then the new leg attachment was slightly different. It had a nut welded to it where my old on did not, so it required different hardware to attach it. I emailed the same person who sent me the new part and now I have waited a week to hear from a technician about getting one bolt to put this new part on. I have offered to send pictures, everything, but no response. I am writing this review because $500 is too much money when I have not been able to properly use this machine for months. Customer Service could have made me give them a great review, but the customer service is severly lacking. I still cannnot using the leg extension and I will be returning the machine for a full refund.

Love it! Sep 21, 2010
By thebestniece We've owned several home gyms through the years and this one is by far, OUR FAVORITE! My husband found it very easy to put together (took less than an hour). The machine is well made, very sturdy and doesn't take up too much room! We would definitely recommend it to friends! In fact, we've had 2 friends who have ordered one after coming over & trying ours!

Great Overall - Minor Improvements Needed May 26, 2011

Based on my experience and other reviews it is clear that the gym has a few manufacturing flaws related to consistency of the product. I noticed this as some of the more complicated components such as the leg apparatus seems to be bowed slightly and is noticeably tilted to the left. However, the actual function of the unit is not impaired at all. The lift assist straps are neat I guess, but I never use them. When the gym is flat, the gap between the seat cushion and the back cushion is about 3 inches wide, and very uncomfortable. This is not a deal breaker because the bench is very long and the user must simply shift further down the seat than usual. I'm not sure if this is the case with all of these gyms or if it is just a design flaw on my unit. The weights are great and they work really well. The price of the unit is also terrific considering that you get adjustable weights (5-45lbs), an adjustable bench with numerous settings and a leg attachment for about the same price as what you would typically pay for the weights alone. Another plus is the look of the machine which is phenomenal. It looks like something you'd expect to see in a professional athlete's home. I would recommend purchasing through the Dosho website which is slightly cheaper typically; additionally, you may upgrade the dumbells from 45lbs each to 70 lbs with the purchase of the add on weights (about $100).
