Canvas Walker Basket Nov 17, 2007

This is a nice product and a good concept. Unfortunately, I bought it before I received my walker, not realizing that not all walkers are built the same. It didn't fit on the Invacare walker that I ended up with, because the model I had has a V-shaped bar across the front, and the basket hook is right in the middle of the V and wouldn't fit over it. To use it, it would have to be off center. But for walkers with a straight bar, it is light and has a modesty cover. Wish it had worked out.

Good idea, mediocre execution Jan 26, 2009
By John Locke I bought this for my Grandmother's rolling walker (rollator) because it's pouch-like -- there's no wire grid for things to fall through.
Trying to use it, we discovered several problems: (1) The mounting is poorly designed and the unit will only mount on walkers with the right "H" or "T" formation to its bars. A basic, cheap walker will work but a fancy walker or many rollators will not.
I had to machine a special bracket to get this mounted on my grandmother's walker. If the bars are not all 1 inch tubes, it will not work either.
(2) The mounting is flimsy and unstable. It has only one support, top center and then two rickety side braces, none of these are secured to the walker bars very well. What this means is that bumping the walker or basket the wrong way (easy to do) dislodges the thing and causes it to come off or spill its contents.
(3) This is a bag that opens with a flimsy plastic accordion mechanism. It does not lock open and tends to collapse, especially when bumped. This makes it harder for Grandma to rummage around for things and is very annoying.

Quality Product - Fast Shipping Jan 20, 2007

I purchased the Carex Canvas Walker Basket for my father-in-law. I researched the internet for prices and types of these products and after deciding on the Carex Basket, I saw that Amazon had the best price. I received the product a couple of days. It was packaged well and of very high quality. It was perfect for my father in law, he is always carrying things from one room to another. It's very sturdy and roomy as well. Much nicer, more attractive, and less bulky than a metal basket, the Carex Canvas Walker Basket is a great buy - with the "father-in-law seal of approval".

Not a horrible basket, but I had problems Aug 12, 2008
By Steven E. Burchett I bought this basket to replace a cloth pouch my mother had sewn for me which hung straight down from the center crossbar, as the pouch had seen heavy wear and was ready to be retired. (I had never had a basket attached to my walker that stuck out the front.)
The attachment mechanism is not the best, either. The are mere sprung hooks, which come off easily with any sort of rough treatment (putting it in the car, for example). It would have been better for it to have something that wraps around the bars that make up the walker, thus securing it.
The walker had a definite tendency to tip over forward if left unattended with any kind of load in the basket (two bottled waters, even). This led to its eventual downfall (literally), as one of the pieces attaching it to the walker broke off, rendering it useless. And having the load that far forward of the your center of mass when walking multiplies the strength needed to lift it, if that is a concern.
Now I'm back to the homemade one, I guess, repairing it as necessary until it falls completely apart. I definitely won't buy a basket that attaches to the front.

roomy and fits my walker fine Dec 05, 2009
By Teresa This is a nice hefy canvas basket with a cover. I was disappointed that there were no dividers to help hold up items carrying from refrigerator to table, etc.
