Works well for hernia relief Jun 21, 2009
By W. Stabnau I bought 2 of these to use in the interim period until I can have a hernia repair done in a couple of weeks. It works pretty well, allowing me to lift weights and go to the gym. It is pretty well made and sturdy enough to put as much pressure as you want on the hernia. The velcro waist strap allows you to have varying amounts of tightness around your hips. I tighten it up more when at the gym for better support. It has adjustable leg straps much like a jock to adjust the amount of pressure that you can put on the velcro-backed foam pads. The pad can be positioned wherever it best suits, there are 2 included, they are pear shaped, like a pear cut vertically, flat on 1 side and about 1 inch thick. Because this is a double truss I think it works better at providing pressure than a single one would, plus I think it feels better because of it's symmetrical fit. It's fairly comfortable but is bulky enough that you are aware of it, but it works well.

This is exactly what I needed. Apr 27, 2011
By CWtexas Surprisingly comfortable and easy. After two days I forgot I was wearing this. Now I wonder why I need surgery at all - till I take it off. Very easy to adjust and you really only have to adjust it once and it stays.
Pros: Sturdy elastic waistband with large velcro fastener. Removeable and adjustable velcro pads are the right shape. Leg straps help keep it positioned correctly. No rough biting or rubbing edges - just be sure the velcro pad does not protrude below the support panel. Washable and air dry.
Tips: If you are on the large edge of the size suggestions definitely go with the next larger size. I'm a 34 but medium fits great.
I have an office job and do not do a lot of bending during the day. If you have a very active day that involves a lot of bending over to the floor or standing and kneeling repeatedly you will need to adjust the leg straps to avoid it slipping higher on your waist. That said, on days when I am active I appreciate it's slim design compared to other "girdle" type designs that would be really inhibiting. If it does slip higher out of position it is really uncomfortable so go fix it.
Cons: The velcro waist band is quite loud when you pull it off, so go slow and careful if you have to use a bathroom in someone's quiet home. Going #1 is no worry with this design - you can leave it on. You could probably get away with a #2 in a pinch but not sure why you'd need to. The leg straps are held with small metal buckles that work fine but there's no place for the extra end of strap that you pull through so I just loop it down under the waistband. This and the buckles could cause small bulges in your pants if you wear really snug flat front slacks. You never notice them in jeans or pleated slacks.
TSA warning - You can imagine what the "Pat Down Police" will think you're pack'n if you try to go through security in one of these. I'd plan to put it in a carry-on and put it on later to avoid any nonsense. On the other hand, you could just explain really loudly that you have a hernia and are wearing a truss and you'd be happy to drop your pants and show them! Depends on your mood I guess.

Does the job Jul 01, 2009

"32Bowtie"
I have to say that it isn't the most comfortable thing to wear but it is doing the job I got it for. The only problem I have with it is sizing. I measured 41" around the hips so I got the medium, too small. I can just get it around me. I then ordered a large, too big, but at least I was able to cut it and attatch new velcro so it fits right.

comfy and effective Jun 05, 2011
By nada gonteja i call this my crotchless jockstrap cause it feels more like a jockstrap than a girdle or orthopedic device like most of these things. nice and small & invisible but still effective. the pads are a bit thick for my tastes & need, but still comfortable enough when i do use them (i substitute a thinner pad from another belt sometimes). the leg bands are soft and thin but have good pull. i'll wear a different one for heavy lifting & grunt work but i already ordered two more of these for regular use. a really great product (if ya gotta wear one of these) at a really great price.

Good value, worked for me Oct 24, 2008
Heads up and make sure you take your HIP size, not your Waist size when ordering.
I made this mistake -- but fortunately I still managed a tight fit.
